- Tropical Forest Protection, The Mai Ndombe Project with Earthly
One of the initiatives we are particularly proud to be associated with is the Mai Ndombe project. This project is immensely significant in its efforts to achieve its objectives and bring about positive changes in the lives of the local communities. By focusing on preserving vital rainforest habitats, the project contributes to environmental conservation and supports the livelihoods of the area's residents. Project Background Launched in 2011, this project is located in the heart of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, within the Congo Basin, the world's second-largest rainforest after the Amazon. Managed by Wildlife Works, the Mai Ndombe project exemplifies the potential of REDD+ ( Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries ) initiatives and is a premier model of success. This initiative mitigates forest and biodiversity loss and significantly contributes to the prosperity of the local community through essential local investments. It has safeguarded 300,000 hectares of critical habitats for Bonobos, Pangolins, and Forest Elephants, as well as some of the world's most important wetlands surrounding Lake Mai Ndombe. Moreover, the project has a profound impact on the lives of residents, improving access to education and essential medical care. Our Commitment At AMX, we are deeply committed to positively impacting the environment through our actions and support for important causes. Climate change is a pressing global crisis that demands immediate attention and concerted efforts from all of us. It transcends borders and affects every individual, making it essential for us to take urgent and decisive steps to preserve our planet for the well-being of future generations. Through our support for the Mai Ndombe project, we aim to contribute to the broader mission of safeguarding our planet and fostering sustainable development. By aligning our efforts with such impactful projects, we strive to create a more sustainable future for all and inspire others to join us in this crucial endeavour.
- Reflecting on 20 Years: The Highlights from our 2024 User Group
We were incredibly thankful to have so many of you join us at our recent User Group Event in Bristol. Celebrating such a significant milestone with so many of you in person was fantastic! We had a record sign-up rate, and the team worked very hard behind the scenes to make it worthwhile for everyone who attended. We hope the AMX presentations were informative and that you are as excited as we are about some of the upcoming AMX mobile and web features announced at the event. We must thank our special guest speakers: Eric DeFleuriot, Alex Harvey and Harry Ching from Champlain Bridge, Craig McAide from EA and Richard White from AtkinsRealis. We enjoyed hearing their expert industry insights. It wasn’t just industry-specific presentations and talks; we also had sector-specific breakout sessions. We hope they helped troubleshoot and answer some of your organisation’s questions! The spaghetti and marshmallow towers provided some light relief and an excellent chance to network and do some team building. The food was stellar, and the cake was the cherry on top!
