August 2016: Mobile data collection for Street Furniture inventory
City of Cardiff highways team have begun using AMX for Android on tablets around the city to update their existing inventory of street furniture beginning with the area’s many Bus Stops.
Within the app the options available are:
• to create/update a unique asset record
• add photographs
• pinpoint the GPS location which corresponds with the street gazetteer
• if applicable record the condition of the furniture – which could then relate back into the systems maintenance planning schedule.
Having the application on the mobile handset has proven to be a huge benefit to the Cardiff team, increasing their productivity through the automatic link to the main database and reducing paperwork.
